Ebensburg, PA: A new $13 Million, Acidic water treatment system, sludge conditioning tanks, and a lime treatment system. The project was constructed at an old abandoned coal mine location. Many yards of excavation were performed to remove the existing coal, and coal waste by products to construct the new mine water treatment facility which is capable of treating up to 10 MGD.
The project consisted of the construction of a new control building, a concrete aeration and mixing tank, a new 180 foot diameter circular clarifier and the drilling of three new dewatering wells and pump installation. The project was designed to remove mine water and treat it with a lime solution. A new holding pond was constructed for the water to settle out prior to spilling over into the stream.
